AftercareHaving gone through the cleansing and protecting sequence, the aim now is to keep the paintwork as protected as possible. Depending on useage the car should be washed as soon as dirt is showing on the paintwork with a dilute solution of DT Concours Reflect car wash, in only warm water. Over time too many hot water washes will tend to make the wax patchy. Use one of our 100% cotton wash mits for washing the paintwork. A cheap syntheitc sponge may be too harsh and help to cause microscratches and swirl marks in the paint. Note : Most cars will have swirl marks because an owner of a brand new car won't necessarrily realise that when he is washing and polishing his shiny car new from the factory, the paint hasn't properly set hard. So all that rubbing with a cheap sponge and using a polish containing high levels of chalk with a rag out of the shed may have a short term pleasing effect but will ultimately show through as millions of tiny swirl marks in the paint or lacquer. Once washing has been completed the paint and glass should be dried with either a Chamois leather or a synthetic Chamois or a 100% cotton towel. Note : We must emphasise that whichever you choose it should be of very good quality. DT Concours Chamois leathers are hand picked by ourselves from our supplier, they may not be the biggest and they may not be the cheapest but they are certainly of premium quality. Any chamois that you use should be cared for according to the suppliers instructions for long life and suppleness. A good quality synthetic Chamois is fine and will usually give good uniform results. If an extra shine is needed then use the Carnauba Speedwax or K300 Wax to give an even deeper gloss to the paintwork. have a look at some of the results of a well cared for car. Porsche 968 Sport
